Recline
Ridge Vineyards and Winery is family-owned and operated, nestled in the
heart of the Shuswap Lake area of British Columbia. Although north of the
50th parallel, our vineyards enjoy sun drenched days and cool evenings
which maximize varietal character and set the stage for the production of
award winning wines noted for their clean sound structure, intense
flavours and perfect balance. |

(1) WHITE TABLE AND DESSERT WINE |
 |
|

This grape was developed in 1970 at Germany's Geilweilerhof research
station from a Silvaner/Reisling cross as one parent and
Müller-Thurgau as the other. The variety ripens to a high natural
sugar content with the unfortunate disadvantage of low acidity.
But when grown primarily on cool sites in British
Columbia, Optima achieves better balance, one reason why awarding
winning dessert wines have been made by several wineries. Both Quails'
Gate and Domaine de Chaberton have had the good fortune in some
vintages to have botrytis and so-called noble rot among their Optima
Grapes. This contributes honey and tobacco flavours, adding richness
to the aroma and taste of the wines.
